Human identity verification for payments

The identity gateway banks use to confirm the person behind a payment.

PaymentCheckpoint confirms that the genuine cardholder is present and authorising a payment — using their live location and a short identity photo — before a bank or payment provider releases the funds. It is the human-verification step that card networks and issuers rely on to stop fraudulent settlement and chargebacks.

A verification is opened only through the secure reference link your bank or merchant issues for your transaction. Checkpoints cannot be started from this page.

How verification works

Three steps between a pending charge and released funds.

When a payment is flagged for confirmation, the bank or merchant sends the cardholder a one-time reference link. PaymentCheckpoint then confirms that the real person is present before the payment is cleared to settle.

STEP 01

Secure link issued

The bank or merchant sends a single-use verification link tied to the transaction reference to the cardholder.

STEP 02

Location & identity check

The cardholder opens the link and confirms they are present by sharing their live location and taking a short identity photo — a liveness and selfie check that proves a real person, not a stolen card, is authorising the payment.

STEP 03

Settlement decision

A pass, review or decline result is returned to the bank or merchant. Only passed transactions are released for settlement.

Security

Built to bank-grade standards.

Every checkpoint runs over an encrypted, single-use session. Card data is never stored on the gateway; the live location and identity photo are used only to reach a verification result, held under strict retention limits, and never shared for advertising.

End-to-end encryption
TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest. Sessions expire after use.
Liveness identity check
The short identity photo confirms a live person is present; images are minimised and retained only as long as the result requires.
Single-use links
Every verification link is valid for one transaction and one session only.
